Just Care

I was reminded today that before and above all, a great leader is a leader who CARES!

A great leader is like the good shepherd who is willing to lay down his life the his sheep.  As opposed to the hired hand who does not own the sheep.  When the hired hands see the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away.  Then the wolf attacks the flock and destroys it.   The hired hands run away because he cares nothing for the sheep.

Leaders simply care to much to RUN.

Don’t Quit

You ever feel like quitting?  You ever feel like giving up?

Kendra Harrison an American Hurdler failed to make the US Olympic team this year by finishing 6th place at the U.S. Olympic Trials in the 100 meter hurdles. (only the top 3 make it).

I’m sure she felt disappointed, frustrated, and upset.  But one thing she didn’t do is QUIT.  Instead, she used her disappointment to fuel her to greater success.  During a track meet in London after her disappointing performance at the Olympic Trials, Kendra not only beat the Gold, Silver, and Bronze medalist from the Rio Olympics, she shattered the World Record.

Leaders refuse to fail.  Leaders find a way to keep going.  Leaders have something inside them that propels them to greater things.

Impact

“Leadership is about making others better as a result of your presence and making sure that impact lasts in your absence.” -Harvard Business School Definition of Leadership
