There are five key areas to help set the tone for your own leadership development:
- Perspective
- Passion
- Position
- Persistence
- Personal Philosophy
Perspective is your leadership lens. This is to say, you definition of what it means to be a leader. Part of your own development as a leader happens as you begin to define what leadership means to you. (What does leadership mean to you?)
Passion is what motivates you as a leader. Passion is the energy that moves you forward and the willingness to do something because you WANT to not because you HAVE to. (What do you care about as a leader? What are you trying to accomplish as a leader?)
Position is your leadership platform. Essentially, it’s what you STAND for as a leader. It’s what you are about. (How will you use your position as a leader to influence others?)
Persistence is your commitment as a leader. It’s your ability to maintain action regardless of your feelings. You press on even when you feel like quitting. (How committed are you to the process of being a great leader?)
Personal Philosophy is what roots you as a leader. It’s the values that you uphold as a leader. (What 3-5 values or deep rooted believes do you feel are important for leaders to posses?)
